CVs & Job Search

Your experience has value. Let’s make it clear.

It can be difficult to recognise what you’ve contributed, especially when it feels like something you just do. Explaining it to someone outside your workplace can be harder still.

We’ll help you identify the experience that’s relevant to the work you want, find the examples that support it and explain your contribution clearly. That gives you a stronger basis for your CV, applications and conversations with recruiters and employers.

More applications aren’t necessarily the answer.

You can’t know who else has applied or what’s happening behind the scenes. But you can find out more about the role and make it easier for someone to understand what you’d bring.

We’ll help you identify suitable opportunities, work out who to speak with and prepare for those conversations. That might mean contacting a recruiter, approaching an employer or reconnecting with someone in your network. What you learn can help you decide whether to apply and what your application needs to show.

Show what you’ve contributed.

Managing a team, leading a project or working with stakeholders tells an employer something about your responsibilities. Specific examples help recruiters and employers build a clearer picture of what you’ve actually done and contributed. They’re also the examples you’ll need to talk through in an interview, so it makes sense to introduce them in your CV.

We’ll explore what you’ve led, delivered or contributed to, the decisions you made, the problems you helped resolve and what happened as a result. We’ll also help you recognise relevant experience you may have overlooked.

Connect your experience to the work you want.

Employers need to understand how your experience fits the work they need done. We’ll help you identify the relevant examples and explain your contribution in language that makes sense to them, in your CV and in conversation.

01. Work out what they’re actually looking for

If only the job ad made that clear. You can be left guessing what they really want beyond “good communication skills”, “a self-motivated attitude” and “the ability to work collaboratively”. We’ll help you read between the lines, identify what’s missing and work out what to ask a recruiter or employer.

02. Show how your experience fits

We’ll work through your experience, choose examples that relate to what they need and make the connection clear. What did you lead or contribute to? What decisions did you make? What changed?

03. Practise talking it through

Those examples need to work in conversation too. We’ll help you explain the context, your contribution and what happened as a result, then practise answering follow-up questions.

Your CV should be defensible.

You should recognise yourself in it and be able to explain the experience behind its claims. We’ll help you prepare for those conversations.

How we can help

01Your CV

A clear account of what you bring to the work you’re aiming for, backed by specific examples of your contribution. Written so someone outside your workplace can understand your experience, and you can talk through it at interview.

02Cover letters

Make the case for a particular role: why it interests you, how your experience fits and what you could contribute. Give the reader a reason to look closely at your CV, rather than repeat it.

03LinkedIn

You’re on LinkedIn, but what is your profile doing for you? It should help recruiters and people in your network understand what you offer and why they might want to talk to you. We’ll bring the main messages from your CV into a clear, high-level profile that helps the right people find you.

04Job search

Whether you’re applying for everything or choosing carefully, how much do you really know about the jobs you’re applying for? A generic ad and a long list of duties or lofty accountabilities can leave plenty unanswered.

We’ll help you identify suitable roles, work out who to speak with and prepare what to ask. Use what you learn to decide whether an opportunity is worth pursuing and make an application that speaks to what they actually need.

05Interview Coaching

Getting interviews but not getting offers? Or have one coming up that you want to prepare for?

We’ll help you choose relevant examples, practise answering questions and talk about your contribution in your own words. You’ll receive practical feedback on what’s clear, where more detail would help and how to approach difficult questions.

Book interview coaching on its own or as part of your CV and job-search support.

Not sure what you want next?

You don’t have to fit neatly into a service or programme. We’ll tailor the support and where we start to your situation.

Some people begin with GHMM to work out what they want and need from work. Others have an application deadline approaching, so we tackle that first and come back to the bigger questions afterwards.

You may not need a full programme at all. An hour or two together can give you space to test your thinking, talk through an opportunity or get an objective perspective on a decision.

We’ll discuss what’s happening and agree what would be useful, whether that’s a conversation, help with a particular application or a programme we adapt as we go.
