Career Transition Coaching

Work is personal.

You can be doing good work and still feel like something has shifted.

The role may no longer fit. The organisation may have changed around you. You may be facing a restructure, feeling burnt out, questioning whether you still want the same things, or simply wondering what else you could do.

You don’t need to know the answer before you start.

You may not know what your next role should be. You can start by understanding what you need from work and use that to explore your options.

Over four sessions, we’ll guide you through understanding what brings out your best at work, exploring roles and organisations that could suit you, and preparing how you present your experience. Together, we’ll turn that thinking into practical steps: what to investigate, who to speak with, what to ask and which opportunities to pursue.

What brings out your best at work?

We use a framework called Greatest, Happiest, Most Motivated, or GHMM, to explore three connected questions.

Greatest

What are you good at? We’ll look at where you’ve made a contribution, what people rely on you for and strengths you may take for granted.

Happiest

What helps you enjoy your work? Think about the people, culture, relationships, flexibility and working environment that suit you.

Most Motivated

What makes you want to get involved and keep going? It might be making a difference, learning, achievement, financial reward or something else.

Together, these conversations help you recognise what you need from work and what to look for in your next role.

03 /

Use that understanding to make decisions.

Your GHMM gives you a reference for decisions about your next step. Use it to assess opportunities, prepare questions and consider whether the work, organisation and conditions suit you.

  • Does this work suit what I’m actually good at?
  • Will this environment bring out my best?
  • What do I need to ask before pursuing this?
  • What compromises am I making?
  • Which opportunity fits me better?

You can use this understanding to compare opportunities, ask more useful questions and decide which compromises you’re comfortable making.

The four stages

We’ll take you through the process, combining coaching with practical guidance on your direction, documents and approach to the job market.

01. GHMM Discovery

We’ll work together to identify what matters most in your next role: the work you’re good at and enjoy, the conditions that suit you and what keeps you motivated.

Outcome A clearer understanding of what you need from work, giving you a reference for the decisions and planning that follow.

02. Your job search market

We’ll use that understanding to explore what the right role could look like, where it might exist and how to investigate it. Together, we’ll build a plan for research and conversations through your network, recruiters, LinkedIn and job boards.

Outcome A practical outreach plan to explore roles and organisations that could suit you.

03. Proposition development

We’ll work on what you need to communicate and how to say it. Together, we’ll develop your CV, LinkedIn profile and supporting application materials, with relevant examples of what you’ve contributed.

Outcome Documents and an application approach that make your value clear, in words you recognise yourself in and can stand behind.

04. Market engagement

We’ll prepare how you approach recruiters, hiring managers and people in your network: your key messages, what to ask and how to explain your experience. We’ll keep what matters to you in view as you assess opportunities.

Outcome A clear approach and talking points for conversations that help you explain what you offer and find out whether a role is right for you.

You may want time to explore your direction, or have an application deadline approaching. We’ll agree where to begin and adapt the order to your situation.
